The All Progressives Congress (APC) has
petitioned the Chairman of Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof.
Attahiru Jega asking for the cancellation of last
weekend's governorship election in Anambra
State.
It is asking for the conduct of entirely fresh
poll or it would go to court to seek remedies.
The APC action is coming as the electoral body
is said to have fixed the supplementary
election for Anambra State governorship seat
on November 30.
APC, in the petition dated November 18 and
jointly signed by its interim National Chairman,
Chief Bisi Akande and interim National
Secretary, Alhaji Tijjani Tumsah, is demanding
the immediate arrest and prosecution of the
Anambra Resident Electoral Commissioner
(REC), Prof, Chukwuemeka Onukogu, along with
members of his 'syndicate'.
But as APC insisted on the cancellation of the
poll, Jega was holding a meeting yesterday with
his national commissioners and Onukaogu.
